Lots of people could not have cared less what Europeans had planned for Europe in 1941 either. We did not “get sucked into a European war”—Germany declared war on us.
A lot of what the USA is going through right now is directly the result of EU influence, take note.
I think a good case can be made that we did get sucked into that war. FDR had the US bending neutrality to the point that our Navy was escorting convoys bound for England and trying to sink German U-boats for months before Pearl Harbor. You don’t think had anything to do with Hitler deciding to declare war? I don’t think there is much doubt that FDR wanted the US in that war and he did pretty much everything he could do to get us sucked into it. I am not sure that I could care less what present day Europeans do with Europe. I don’t think it is any of our business.
