he NFL and former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick announced Friday that they have reached a settlement over Kaepernick's collusion lawsuit, The Washington Post reports. Kaepernick had sued the league after he was apparently blacklisted from playing football due to his protests during the national anthem; he has been out of the sport for the past two seasons.

While the terms of the settlement were not revealed, and the resolution is subject to a confidentiality agreement, NFL columnist Mike Freeman reported that "team officials are speculating to me [that] the NFL paid Kaepernick in the $60 million to $80 million range."

Anyone who goes to, watches, or supports the sponsors of an NFL game is a fool.

They should not have paid him one lousy penny. What a crazy screwed up nation we have now. Radical racist cop-hating anti-American clown gets paid tens of millions of dollars for NOT playing football??? This is insane.

If true, Kaepernick is a genius.

Or it could be a few hundred bucks. A high settlement would encourage every washed out has been player to sue for the same thing.

I’ve heard conflicting things, and really haven’t followed his story too closely. But I heard his contract was up, he walked away from a new contract with the 49ers, and found no offers in the free agent market.

I’ve also heard that he was, at best, a journeyman/backup quarterback. And as such, he had limited value in the free agent market. Which accounts for him not getting offers.

Well, Nike thinks he risked everything for his radical beliefs. So there’s that too. He’s not having any trouble paying his bills.

This is probably meant to be “Go Away, Leave Us Alone & Keep Yr Mouth Shut!” money.
Even still, nobody wants him on their team.

You weren’t alone. I haven’t watched a Super Bowl since Jerry Jones fired Tom Landry. I could care less about trendy commercials and halftime shows. I am an NHL man now.

He made far more money doing this than he would have playing for a team.

It’s an incredible swindle to pull off, for sure.

So incredible that I have to wonder if there was a thumb on the scale on the league’s side. Their position is ludicrous - they should be fighting tooth and nail to make sure this precedent is not set, inviting more and more lawsuits of the same nature.
