It’s not in LI, it’s in Queens.
It would still affect the infrastructure, but it wouldn’t be as bad as trying to go to Farmingdale, Port Washington or the Hamptons from B’klyn or Manhattan.

Welllll, although Queens and Brooklyn are part of NYC, they are also physically located ON the big island known as "Long Island." It may be a legal point to say they are "not Long Island" but physically, geographically they are on the same island as Nassau and Suffolk counties:
