Nor is Office Ronil Singh...
“...but Kate Steinle is not.”
Someone aptly opined if the killer had missed Steinle and hit one of those sea lions on the pier, he would already be in jail. WTF, CA?
I think it’s bluff and BS. And not in on this Allahpundit assessment at all.
I think if anyone is in tune with the majority of Americans on this issue, it’s Donald Trump. He’s been right about it from the outset; this establishment attitude of, “Oh my GOD, we can’t do this or the Democrats will do it to us!!” is a loser.
The law was written for presidents to declare legitimate national emergencies, which, by the way, presidents (including this one) do often, and without any controversy.
Pelosi’s ‘threat’ that ‘gun violence’ can be a national emergency may (or may not) go over better with the public, but that’s not the point, is it? It’s what a president can and cannot do legally; declaring a national emergency over a constitutional right is a helluva lot more of a stretch than border security, especially with one caravan after another trekking to our borders monthly.
Oh, and let’s not forget that the Mexican narco-state is one assassination away from becoming a failed state — which will translate into a yuuuuuuge national emergency were that to happen.
I trust the president’s judgment on this.
