Soon after speaking to President Trump about the firing of his boss James Comey, Andrew McCabe, who became the bureau's acting director, began obstruction of justice and counterintelligence investigations involving the president and his ties to Russia. In his first television interview since his own firing, McCabe tells 60 Minutes' Scott Pelley he wanted those inquiries to be documented and underway so they would be difficult to quash without raising scrutiny.
"I was very concerned that I was able to put the Russia case on absolutely solid ground, in an indelible fashion," McCabe tells Pelley in the interview. "That were I removed quickly, or reassigned or fired, that the case could not be closed or vanish in the night without a trace."
The interview with the veteran FBI agent who rose to acting director of the bureau will be broadcast on 60 Minutes, Sunday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m., ET/PT on CBS.
"I wanted to make sure that our case was on solid ground and if somebody came in behind me and closed it and tried to walk away from it, they would not be able to do that without creating a record of why they made that decision," McCabe said.
The White House responded to the opening of that investigation, calling it a "completely baseless investigation."

Under Obama, partisanship was a requirement, not a disqualifier. With a corrupt president such as he was, there is no level of bureaucratic regulation that can prevent this.
Barr, the new AG to replace Sessions should be confirmed shortly by the senate. At that time, Barr hopefully will take over supervision on Mueller from the duplicitous Rosenstein and reassign him to some backwater in Montana
I met you at Walmart.../S
I am really beginning to dislike the givernment
It is abusive
I would beat the living muck out of this guy like Andrew Jackson, then lay into him with a cane...
Actually I did work for a year as a front end cashier for Walmart. Walmart wasn’t any better as an employer either.
Like I said, thank God for my mother. And thank God for Pres Trump who got rid of the inheritance tax.
I agree. These people are traitors. I hope they are hung on trees on the wdc mall and the birds pick their traitorous bones. A;ll of that is after arrest, fair trial and conviction, of course.
He believed McCabe, who was fired. The dark haired host women wanted to repeat, that the 25th amendment was “serious” because Trump was obviously a Russian plant.
Sheesh, a two year old could produce a better news product, this was worse than the National Enquirer.
worth repeating, AND the DOJ should have him prosecuted and in jail.
Good.
On another note, I can’t Express how steaming angry I am about the McCabe interview, which will air tonight
I don’t think anyone will listen or care.
Christie would have been a great AG. The problem is that Christie had so much baggage that the chances of being confirmed by the Senate were almost zero. I would like to see Christie in some important capacity in the Administration, but unfortunately, it will have to be in a job not requiring Senate Confirmation. He was in the running for Chief of Staff, but apparently, he took himself out of that process as he didn’t think it was the right job for him. Maybe, down the road, there will be a place for him in the Administration.
Christie would get through the Senate now. Christie is relentless.
And, if my radar is correct, Paul Ryan.
These guys saw a director of the FBI. Instead of reacting logically, they could only think, this guy must be crazy.
Cannot wait for a new AG to bitch slap these plotters.
When Trump asked if he could come over to the FBI - would that be OK - McCabe COULD have told the truth. He could have been gracious. But no, McCabe chose to lie. And the others at the FBI lied and smirked along with McCabe. All the little jerks who thought they were better than an outsider - better than an elected President - because Trump wasn't a DC club member - he didn't know the 'unwritten rules' of the club, sat there and lied to the President of the United States.
We've all met jerks like McCabe... he and his book are not going to go over well outside of DC... this book will help get Trump reelected.May McCabe spend time in prison... little traitor trying to overthrow a duly elected President.
Maybe. Not sure of that. He wouldn’t get any Dem. votes and still has a few Republicans that wouldn’t vote for him.
And she uses the 17 agencies concurred, proven lie as well.
He and all his buddies need to be shipped off to GITMO for the rest of their natural lives.
Susan Rice memo!
We learned in Watergate that to break the really big laws it takes Presidential power.
In Spygate, it took Hillary to start it but Hussein made the necessary calls to make it happen. This scenario is even more credible once you know that in 2007, Hillary was trying to frame John McCain with Russia. The difference is in 2007, the FBI did NOT bite.
According to Dan Bongino, Glenn Simpson wrote an article in 2007. Simpson is of course a major player in 2016!
You may recall that one of Lisa Pages texts to Peter Strzok said that POTUS wanted to stay informed. Lisa needs to tell us under oath who told her POTUS wanted info on the FBI Trump setup! The RATS are doing everything they can to bury this scandal.
The bread crumbs are on the trail that leads to Hussein Obama and Hillary.
Sessions turned out to be a rotten human being, terrible character with no integrity. A total scam artist
