Not even “socialist takeover”. I read the bill as a barely-veiled Communist takeover. Socialists would call for each point individually, waddling toward their “progressive” goals.
Communists up-front call for outright centralized planning, with N-year plans. GND is nothing less than a call to overhaul the entire country, food-economy-infrastructure-classes-energy-buildings-transportation-everything, in 10 years flat (a 29yo does not yet grasp the span of a decade), which absolutely requires centralized planning with zero tolerance for alternate opinions. Bonus: the impact on productivity will be so severe that reaching those imperative goals will require slashing population - a very Communist option.
The 21st Century Communist firmly believes that modern technology (supply chain software running in real-time, AI/Machine Learning, Data Analytics) will FINALLY make it possible to centrally manage an economy.
It looks like we are going to find out.
