Here’s the bottom line with Ilhan Omar.
She’s from the Minnesota’s 5th District. Think Berkeley with snow. I used to live in that district. It’s always had a liberal bent to it but in the last 20 years, it has headed progressively further and further left. Let’s put it this way - the Democrat Party’s main competition in that district is the Green Party.
The people who voted for her in the Democrat primary last summer - well, they knew who the hell they were voting for. It was no great secret about the allegations that she married and divorced her brother in order to get asylum here. She schmoozed the liberal Jews in the district by promising to be fair-minded but one look at her older tweets told you that she was gonna be anything but fair-minded.
Keith Ellison (aka Keith X) was my member of Congress for a number of the years I lived in the 5th District. When he first ran for Congress in 2006, I crossed over and voted in the Democrat primary for another guy. Yeah, this guy was liberal but he was as Jason Lewis once described him, a liberal you could do business with. He lost to Ellison
I never thought that I’d see someone actually worse than Keith Ellison - but god forbid, it has happened.
