The story behind the comedic and unsuccessful rollout of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal demonstrates a congressional office in utter chaos with no one — or everyone — in charge.
The document appeared on Ocasio-Cortez's webpage on February 7 and by nightfall had been unceremoniously deleted. This was after a day of mockery and outrage at some of the more unrealistic, even silly proposals the document detailed.
The "explanations" offered by her staff ran the gamut from the document being a "draft" to charges by one of her main advisers that Republicans had planted the document to make her look stupid.
Seriously? After a few weeks in the public eye, it should be obvious that Ocasio-Cortez doesn't need the GOP to look stupid.
The communications staff has so far not responded to an inquiry about the now-missing blog post.
But on Saturday morning, chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti tweeted that the FAQ page was indeed posted by the Ocasio-Cortez staff but was done so in error. He called the page "an early draft of a FAQ that was clearly unfinished and that doesn't represent the GND resolution got published to the website by mistake (idea was to wait for launch, monitor q's, and rewrite that FAQ before publishing)."
What is Mr. Chakrabarti doing still working for the congressman? That level of stupidity and incompetence would have cost any other chief of staff on the Hill his job. Chakrabarti is listed as one of the founders of the Justice Democrats organization, who played a key role in electing Ocasio-Cortez. His Hill administrative experience is apparently lacking.
Then there's an Ocasio-Cortez policy adviser, Robert Hockett, who told Tucker Carlson that the document was a GOP dirty trick:

Two big problems for our side:
1) while our talk radio shows and friends laugh at the absurdity of the preposterous plans like trains across the oceans to replace planes, the majority of the American people voted for a Dem House and they very well may support socialism if there’s money in it for them without working for it.
2)The old slowly creeping gains under the Alinsky system was “just to save the life of the mother or in cases of rape” for a little abortion, asking govt. paid care of the truly needy, helpless sick person who needs health care in a crisis —”you won’t sit there in the richest country in the world and let that man die, will you——was asked on Larry King once, and the New Deal “Just give your neighbor a helping hand up to make it back to working for his own income for his family with dignity again”—— all were okayed and then replaced by bigger and bigger socialist plans.
Thus, I fear AOC and the others will soon say revised Green New Deal will be “75% of cars will be banned by 15 years from today”
See? Voters think maybe my own car will be okay in the 25% and 15 years sounds farther away than 10 years. Let’s vote them in.
And delay air travel ban by putting an 80% special tax on air travel tickets. See, not really a ban yet.
If AOC had said those exact plans first, then the outcry would have been over the 75%. Now 75% sounds like a reasonable compromise!

In addition to a lack of evidence, it should be noted that it is highly unlikely that Johnson, a security officer living in Florida, would have access to information regarding Ocasio-Cortez’s credit score, as this information cannot be obtained by a third party without written consent under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Johnson claimed that Ocasio-Cortez had been evicted from her home twice with the help of a sheriff’s office. We did a background check on the congresswoman and found no mention of such an incident, no court cases tied to her living arrangements, and no irregularities in her housing history.
She was a rising political star in 2018. As such, a number of news outlets published profiles about her that detailed Ocasio-Cortez’s upbringing, her education, and her political motivations. We examined several of these stories and also found no mention of her alleged “sheriff evictions,” closed bank accounts, or low credit score.
Fox News, for instance, published an article headlined “Who is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? 5 things to know about the New York congresswoman.” That article briefly went into Ocasio-Cortez’s financial history and stated that, rather than facing evictions and account closures, she worked multiple jobs to help support her family after the death of her father

In general, we found nothing indicating financial irresponsibility in Ocasio-Cortez’s background, whose April 2018 Financial Disclosure Report detailed a modest amount of assets and income, but also no liabilities other than a federal student loan. We also note that low credit scores potentially attach not only to persons who have poor credit histories (i.e., numerous late or unpaid debts), but to those persons who simply have not built up their scores through means such as taking out credit-building loans and using credit cards.
