I live in a small town in California. Each week our local police post a log on facebook on what they done the past week.
When they come across a “homeless” person setting up a camp they are informed of the no camping ordinance and given a misdemeanor citation and told they can not camp here. I don’t think they are told they had to leave town but since there is no camping or begging allowed they move on.
I should also say that they are searched for contraband and any found is taken from them. I am sure our small town has a reputation as not being friendly to transients.
Yep, and the homeless problem is the worst in liberal run large cities.
This piece says Portland has the second highest number of homeless in the nation, San Franscisco has a huge problem also and can’t even keep the human waste off the sidewalks and gutters.
They didn’t mention “sanctuary cities” or states in this article, I guess that doesn’t add to the problem. /sarc
Also, the majority of the money spent by the city on homelessness doesn't even go to the homelessness. It is spent on "homeless advocates" and other groups who line their pockets instead.
Typical liberalism, their policies create a problem which then gets exacerbated by more and more liberal policies, until the situation becomes unsustainable.
Vancouver, WA is just across the river from Portland and they have a problem also.
The smaller cities in SW WA don’t seem to have the huge problems they do so they must handle the problem similar to your city.
Shouldn’t these bozos be calling the politicians that THEY elected?
but but I thought the commies in Portland are all about inclusion..they should invite the homeless to stay in their houses, use their bathrooms and eat from their frigs
Portland has very generous benefit for bums and we all know that when you subsidize something you get more of it.
I used to work at an ER in Spokane, WA which has a relatively mild bum problem. While it is true that some of them have mental health issues the vast majority are drunks and druggies who don’t want to get clean or sober enough to stay in local shelters where there are rules that impose on their FREEDOM!(or so I’ve been told often). Many times I encountered a bum who rode an ambulance to the ER and when asked what was wrong their first words were “Can I get a sandwich?”. That’s what is called a “cabulance” ride.
Yep...A great many are drunks, druggies and the shiftless.
Lets wrap this Freepathon up, Folks!
Portland has(had?) a place called Dignity Village, which essentially waived zoning and building codes. That was years ago.
But...but...They’re all lefties out there. Shouldn’t they be inviting them into their homes?
WE know that - - democrats don't...
The Portland Police Bureau has not been given nearly enough resources to fulfill its small piece in addressing the homelessness crisis,” police union president Daryl Turner
They have night sticks dont they?
L
Perception is reality!
Yep...When I was a kid my future FIL was a cop in the So CA town I lived in and the railroad ran through it.
Hobo’s traveled the rails and they weren’t harassed in the daytime if they left the area by the tracks they could spend the night and were not causing trouble.
If they were in town late in the afternoon they were told don’t be in town when the sun sets and it was enforced.
Call your politicians
And we cant be bothered to move into subsidized housing because??
But we prefer to tolerate them polluting our cities because we would rather pretend they dont exist.
Then we complain about it when the problem becomes too big to ignore.
