One of my all time favorite films. Seen in many many times. Even went to see a screening of it hosted by Mel Brooks a few years back.
I was too young to know half of what they were talking about, but I had seen this film on VHS several times as a kid. In the 3rd grade we were learning history and the classroom teacher was talking about how cowboys in the old west would sometimes ride into a mining town and kill all the men.
One of our 3rd grade classmates asked “what about the women”... and my response was related to the quote in the film about what happens after the “#6 dance” (minus the S word). The teacher got red in the face mad at me, told me this was totally inappropriate to say, and sent me to the principle.
Meanwhile, in Virginia...
"Hey boy! You look mighty cute in them jeans....."
Sadly so true.
Ah Mr. Bezos
I twust you feel rewheshed.
Those Kansas City faggots wouldn’t let this movie be made today.
The black guy is the hero and all the white men are idiots. I don’t see how this is different from most of the commercials and TV shows of today. Just less in your face about it now I guess.
I love Blazing Saddles. We used to watch the first 15 minutes at my fraternity all the time and it was a very multicultural place. Everyone would be rolling with laughter.
I think Amazon might have the DVD version.
Sad that both Cleavon Little and Madeline Kahn died so young.
It took me 20 years of watching it before I got that gag. But, I think the line is technically “a laurel, and hearty handshake” - it just sounds like Laurel and Hardy. Which in itself is just brilliant comedic writing.
I was in middle-school when BS came out as we couldn’t possibly have been more delighted...very quotable movie...
Sadly all the actors, Harvey Korman, Slim Pickens, Gene Wilder, Clevon Little, Madelaine Kahn have all passed on
Only Mel Brooks is still with us .
Time to celebrate by viewing an original copy. Grow some skin, people.
“Is that a ten gallon hat, or are you just enjoying the show?”
“Up yours Ni$$er”
And RIP Alex Karras, aka Mongo, who was sadly just a pawn in the game of life.
How about Gold Diggers of 1933?
-PJ
Almost forgot
Alex Karas and Dom Delouise
What in the wide, wide world of sports is goin on here?!?
