Mayor Eric Garcetti has ordered Los Angeles police to scale back on vehicle stops in response to an investigation by the Los Angeles Times that concluded African American drivers were stopped at a rate more than five times their share of the population.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the department currently makes about 60,000 vehicle stops per year—significantly more than in years past.
The mayor wants the department to direct resources to other activities that will help build trust with the citizens of Los Angeles.
Garcetti said in a statement, "I have directed the Chief of Police to prioritize other elements of our comprehensive crime reduction strategy, beyond vehicle stops, until we learn more—so that we can accelerate the reduction in vehicle stops that has been achieved since they peaked a couple of years ago."
Garcetti added, "We have to keep prioritizing what works to both stop crime and strengthen trust."
Police Commissioner Shane Murphy Goldsmith said she supports more community policing and youth programs, which she believes will address the root causes of crime.
We do we even bother to write laws anymore? I say we just go right to anarchy and shoot criminals on sight.
At least they can make up for lost revenue by all the fines they’ll collect from the criminals using plastic straws.
Someone needs to tell the “MAYOR” that the citizens of Los Angeles includes the White who are being terrorized by the Blacks.
There is absolutely NO RESPECT for laws or LEO’s among the blacks.
The more you DO NOT stop their behavior-—the more of the bad behavior you get.
I left LA over 25 +++ years ago & I won’t go back.
My daughter was just telling me yesterday that people drop little hints to see whether you share their prejudice. I thought she was overreacting to normal differences of opinion. However, she was right.
Someone needs to tell the “MAYOR” that the citizens of Los Angeles includes the White who are being terrorized by the Blacks.

In the old days, LA Mayor could not order LAPD Chief to change policy...I am talking about Mayor Tom Bradley and Chief Daryl Gates...Bradley could not fire Gates just because Gates refused to change certain policy...Back then Chief had a civil service protection...
Now the civil service protection for LAPD chief is gone...Now Mayor Garcetti could fire LAPD chief without too much difficulty...
By the way, both Bradley and Gates passed away many years ago...
By the way, LAPD Metro Division has taken over the old location of Rampart Police Station...Remember Rampart scandals? Rampart Station moved to some other location...
