A reporter at the Washington Post says that an investigator hired by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos believes that text messages leaked to the National Enquirer between Bezos and his girlfriend may have been sent to the magazine by someone in government.
In an appearance on MSNBC on Thursday, Post reporter Manuel Roig-Franzia said that Bezos's security consultant Gavin de Becker believes that National Enquirer obtained text messages from Bezos through inappropriate means.
Bezos on Thursday said in a blog post that the Enquirer was attempting to force him to call off his investigation of the tabloid under the threat of further texts being released.
They have begun to believe, the Bezos camp, that this publication by the National Enquirer might have been politically motivated, Roig-Franzia said Thursday.
Gavin de Becker told us that he does not believe that Jeff Bezoss phone was hacked, he thinks its possible that a government entity might have gotten hold of his text messages, he added.
De Becker's assertion that Bezos's phone was not hacked raises questions as to how staffers at the Enquirer obtained messages that were allegedly sent privately between Bezos and his rumored girlfriend, former TV anchor Lauren Sanchez.
The Enquirer is owned by David Pecker, a top ally of President Trump. Pecker has been accused of helping the president kill unfavorable stories about his past affairs during the 2016 election.
Bezos and Trump have feuded publicly over Amazon and its relationship with the federal government, as well as over Bezos's ownership of The Washington Post, which the president says unfairly targets him with negative news coverage.
In a Medium post Thursday night, the Amazon CEO vowed not to fall for "extortion" tactics from Pecker and American Media Inc., which owns the Enquirer.
"Rather than capitulate to extortion and blackmail, Ive decided to publish exactly what [American Media Inc. (AMI)] sent me, despite the personal cost and embarrassment they threaten," Bezos wrote.
Sounds like a set up in the works here.
Why is the story that came out suspected to be incorrect?
I think you are right.
More than likely what actually happened is that he has seriously annoyed someone in his own company who has decided to obtain revenge through salacious reporting. Hmmm.... who do we know of in Bezos organization who might have motive for such a thing as well as the power to carry it off??
Bezos should be looking a little closer to home, IMHO
So, Trump monitored Bezos phone. Then intercepted all of his text messages. The he sent them to the NE. Then the NE people blackmailed Bezos to stop reporting on their legal problems.
I can see where people with simple minds would make all those links.
Kamala Harris was the top speculated choice as the WP source (of much earlier use of fake Indian blood to advance her career).
Keen investigative reporting by the WP was at bottom.
Carr implied that Biden's going to be "sourced"-out by Bloomberg, Bloomie having stated that he can't throw his hat into the ring if Biden's there.
And Bloomie does contemporarily "buy his ink by the barrel".
Keep your Johnson in your pants.
I remember when the inquirer was tabloid trash and the Washington Post was a respected publisher.
The post published stuff about trump’s private life all the time... Where are you living?
Forgot to add... That they got from the govt.
Typical liberal. Blames others for his problems.
Payback is a bitch.
When in doubt, blame Trump.
Ironic, since the surveillance capabilities of the Deep State have been arrayed against him almost 100%.
Yet another consultant with some political distraction. Surprised he didnt blame the Russians.
I doubt that POTUS cares about Bezos dick pics or that Trump would want to embarrass Sanchez. He seems more concerned with renegotiating USPS agreements. Bezos’s Washington Post has seemed to be reflective of a distinct political viewpoint, and certainly can be justly accused of bias in the case of Kavanaugh as well as Trump, but I don’t think that Bezos can just assume that simply because he would abuse power that other people would do so as well.
There is probably only one person who cares about his dick pics. His wife might have incentive, and if not her than people who like her. There is also the matter of manufacturers who have been reportedly squeezed to a level that threatens their existence. Bezos has made enemies, and probably at the head of the line is his soon to be ex-wife.
Not govt entity, it’s Larry Ellison.
Also, it is a common tactic for rich people in community property states to try to drive down the price of a big asset right before they get ready to buy out their spouse in divorce proceedings. A big scandal involving the CEO is almost cliche.
Also, Bezos is an older guy throwing over his wife for a younger woman. He evidently has a rather rosy view of the interest that his dick pics might generate in the public.
It could be that he did this to himself.
“Believes”?! Who cares what somebody believes? You have proof, or at least some actual evidence, or STFU.
Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, what’s good for the goose pal.
