I do agree that there’s an opportunity for Trump to bring a lot of immigrants over to his side for the reasons you cited but also because a strong economy is good for them too. If the Democrats thought there was a chance for Trump to do this they would build the biggest border wall in history. LOL
With regard to what’s in liberals’ hearts, the reality is that they want power and they want things their way. That is never going to change. Thinking about converting’ them is simply wishful thinking and a waste of time. They see the world purely in emotional and often irrational terms. They are addicted to their liberal ideology. How do you win over people like that?
Bear in mind my first comment above regarding your own point about immigrants voting conservative. Democrats should be able to see the logic behind that — but they don’t and won’t. They are immune to logic, just like they refuse to see any unintended consequences from the crazy things they want to do. They simply block out inconvienient facts. And that is one of the things that makes them so destructive and dangerous.
You’re never going to peel off those hard core 20% lefties, but OTOH, there’s a fair number of them who are closer to being INdependent, who might come over to Trump’s side ON SOME ISSUES.
The trend now is to NOT buck Pelosi or Schumer. If Trump can peel off a couple of them, and gets a couple wins in his pocket more will come.
