The problem causing the backup isn’t the bridge. It’s the very poorly designed interchange with I-110 on the east side of the bridge. Close 110 and the traffic across the bridge would be bearable.
The Sunshine bridge
****************
Built under the administration of Gov. Davis and to which he honored by
riding a horse named Sunshine into the state capitol on his 2nd inaugural.
He lived to be 101 years of age when he died in 2005.
He had many albums thru the years.
Sure we can. The traitor Swampocrats refuse to.
Big difference ...
Oh I agree with that, “Get them out of their cars...” comment.
It angers them that they can’t herd us into boxcars like cattle, to be video tagged so they can catalogue our every move.
Their vision is freeways and highways broken up and returned to mother nature or open spaces in cities.
That’s the only kind of talk you hear up front.
Then reality sets in and they say something like, “Well, you can’t predict everything. We needed it despite the fact tolls will now pay 98% of the project.”
That initial estimate of costs...
Count on that to be about 5-10% of the final cost.
About ten to twelve years ago, I went to a FReeper event in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. From there we took a car trip to just South of the NASA facility at the Cape.
During that trip we had to stop between four and six times one-way, to pay tolls.
Imagine if that was the case across the nation. That’s where it’s headed.
The TEN BILLION DOLLAR bridge - still 1B less than the final cost of the replacement eastern leg of the SF-Oakland Bay Bridge.
Hang in there.
Has this already been mostly built?
SF-Oakland Bridge: Yes.
New MS River Bridge: No.
Okay. Well, good luck. I hope things work out.
I’ve seen how things go out here. (California)
These are work projects for union members. There’s of course a symbiosis between the Democrats in power in my state and them, so there’s no real urgency to get good pricing.
I’m actually in MD.
However, if building the bridge requires federal funds or a TIFIA loan, then Davis-Bacon would apply.
They are herding young people onto mass transit and ride-sharing services. They don’t want the freeways and highways broken up; trust me, they will still be there for the elites (just like the private jets they still use despite the harm to dear Mother Earth /s).
Okay, well good to know.
Yeah that could be too.
