This man has been treated like trash by Democrats. They denied him a speaking slot at one of their dinners or convention or something and even Northam refused to acknowledge him in the final weeks of the campaign.
You would just think he would have a moment of clarity, completely resign, and denounce all things Democrat and run as a Republican in 2021.

The long game if they can get Northam to resign: dirty up Fairfax enough to get him to quit and get Herring in as Gov ... radical-Progressive-on-steroids ‘coup’. They’d be making lemonade out of lemons (for the Left) if they can pull it off.
Looks to me like they knew about the sexual assault allegations, all of which are, so far, more detailed and less refuted than even those against Roy Moore. Moore, after all, denied any improprieties with underage women, there were serious doubts about the veracity of the main accuser, and she only made her charges more than thirty years after the alleged incident(s).
