Thanks! But don’t you think that as he drove his automobile the huge battery would warm up a bit so that the driving range would be restored. Maybe those large batteries need a heating element that can be plugged in on v cold nights.

That is a good point. Li batteries do warm up internally and recover some capacity. One of my motorcycles has a lithium starting battery and it works best on a cold day to first turn on the headlight to warm up the battery, and then after a minute or so hit the starter.

Eureka !
As you drive, the battery heats up causing your range to increase. Keep driving and it increases again.
Perpetual motion has arrived, but be careful to not overcharge the battery bank.
