Drive a Toyota sedan get 35-40 mpg so 29 mpg is a long way down

Doubtful.

Most sedans don't get near that MPGs. And what's advertised on the sticker of a new car is often very far from the truth.

Toyota Prius, perhaps, but not a regular ICE Toyota.

And, my SUV is taller than a comparable sedan in length, but MPG-wise, the comparable sedan and my SUV are about the same. And, btw, with highway driving alone, my SUV can average some 37 mpgs; that's no lights, no traffic jams, and under 65 driving. Yeah, that's not normal driving, but then, it's real when it's just highway driving. City driving is quite different, where I get between some 22-23 MPGs, which is why I try to not stop at red lights and stop signs. ;)

You are just ignorant of what other vehicles get for mpg. A new Toyota Camry L gets an average of 34mpg 29 city 41 highway.
