Everything is a political message in the USA today. Nothing is just entertainment.
Just play the game and shut up about oppression - you are the most privileged individuals on the planet.
They do have a right to protest—on their own time and on their own dime.
They have to obey the boss, even though the boss says, yeah, you can kneel if you want to...we just won’t have it shown on TV. If a WalMart greeter tells shoppers to go F themselves as they enter, he won’t have his job long.
Rush Limbaugh was dismissed from ESPN (no big loss) after what he said on air.
The Oscars, etc, are also political. Some people can’t wait to watch as their favorite films and actors are up for awards, but there will be lots of anti Trump “humor”
in a long, boring telecast. The folks who tell us we can’t have our guns make millions off of films full of gun violence, are protected by armed bodyguards, and live in mansions protected by walls. I couldn’t name most of the actors and films nominated this year. Only saw a few
films. Ant Man and the Wasp was good. I don’t think that’s up for best picture.
A funny moment did happen a couple years ago when La La Land was announced as Best Picture—though, oops, go back into your seats, please, we read the wrong envelope. At least we could laugh at that on the “highlights” on the news.
