This seems driven to drive the care of the baby in the right direction, but it is obvious that, since most things in life have a duality to them (A hammer can be used to build a beautiful house, but can also be used to murder someone) it is not outside the realm of possibility that this could be tied to various tests that would result in the following conversation:
MOTHER: Uh, what? Are you recommending we kill the child? How can my baby be aborted if it has already been born, and I am holding it in my arms?

My 3rd grandson was diagnosed in utero with possible microencephalopathy. The doctor recommended abortion.
Fortunately, my daughter is a nurse and knew that prenatal ultrasounds are not 100% reliable. She went and got a second opinion. The second doctor ordered another ultrasound, and discovered that his head on the first one was partially obscured behind my daughter’s pelvis. He was fine.
He’ll be 2 years old this year and is doing great.
