Lago Vista Independent School District announced Wednesday it will cancel all classes in the district Thursday and Friday due to influenza-related absences. The closure aims to decrease the spread of the flu virus by keeping students at home. During this time, the LVISD custodial staff will thoroughly disinfect all buses and spaces. All school-related activities scheduled for Thursday and Friday — including evening activities — will continue at the discretion of the activity sponsor. KXAN spoke with a group of seventh graders who said they started noticing their friends get sick last week. "Friday, I saw like two of my friends were out," said Dylan Ditto. The number of absences kept going up. Bundy Renfro, who has two sons at Lago Vista's middle school, said she received an email earlier this week. Renfro said about 80 students had the flu. Wednesday, the Superintendent's Office said about 30 percent of middle school students were absent.

This is stupid... Influenza virus spreads from person to person mainly through fine liquid droplets, or aerosols, that become airborne when people with flu cough, sneeze, or talk. Disinfecting hard surfaces is nothing more than a feel good exercise.
Not only that, would most of these kids have already been vaccinated?
Spot on fireman. Now if people would only cover their nose and mouth when they sneeze or cough it would do wonders. Pisses me off when I see people in public places sneeze away without the covering up.
