Tom Daschle lived with his lobbyist wife outside of DC and claimed Sourh Dakota residency at his elderly mother’s home in Aberdeen, SD. He didnt live in SD the entire time he was in Congress... just showed up to campaign at county fairs and coffee shops in jeans and a cheap shirts to claim being a South Dakotan.
Tom Harkin didn’t really have a home in Iowa when he was US Senator. He lived in the Bahamas.
Re: Daschle - Republicans want the freedom to do things like this, too. That’s why nothing is ever said. There are many such “gentleman’s agreements” in place between the two parties.
