The year 2018 is likely to have been the fourth warmest year on record, a scientific group pronounced Thursday -- and joins three other extra-hot years since 2015 that suggest a leap upward in warmth that the Earth may never return from in our lifetimes.
The warmest year on record for the Earth’s land and oceans was 2016 -- by a long shot, thanks to a very strong El Nino event. That’s followed by 2017, 2015, and now 2018, said Zeke Hausfather, a research scientist with Berkeley Earth, which released the findings.
“2018 is consistent with the long term warming trend,” Hausfather said. “It’s significantly warmer than any of the years before 2015. There’s still this big bump up after 2014, and 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 are all in a class of their own.”

Every year is reported as the hottest year on record.
We haven't stopped adding greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere so there is more heat-trapping CO2 in the air.
If the hypothesis of man-made global warming is true, every year with increasing CO2 should mean each year should be warmer.
How is 2018 not the hottest year on record?
I bring this up because every January every MSM outlet tells us the previous year was the warmest year on record and I haven't heard that reported this year.
It’s like how Obama had ‘new low’ popularity ratings there were conveniently 1-2 points higher that earlier low approval ratings.
There are “new normals” we must accept, and “new normals” we must fight.
The MSM will tell us which is which.
When it gets colder than heck, the Goebbels Warming crowd springs into action.
Maybe they figured 2018 being once again the “warmest on record” would be a tough sell, while we are being invaded by the worst Polar Vortex ever right now.
Hopefully, there won’t be the coldest Polar Vortex ever next January, and 2019 can revert to being the Warmest On Record again.
I guess we are screwed then.
Really...before THIS three years of warm years that were warmer ...were there ever three years in a row before, out of all the years ever recorded, that temperatures have ever gone up?

A smug Jimmy lectured us that “climate change” means any kind of extreme weather.
And then he used children to read cue cards to “explain” climate change to the president.
And the liberal audience at Jimmy’s show ate it all up, clapping like seals.
