Democrats introduce equal pay legislation 10 years after passing first fair pay act

House Democrats were joined by Lilly Ledbetter, the namesake of the fair pay act signed by President Obama in 2009, to introduce supplemental legislation they say gives women "new tools" to challenge the gender pay gap.

The Paycheck Fairness Act, which is sponsored by Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., addresses modern-day salary imbalances between men and women, which can be exacerbated when women are unaware of their male coworkers' salaries. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-New York, said while introducing the bill that women could use a Google sheet to share salaries. Ocasio-Cortez, a progressive and the most famous new member of Congress, added that equal pay was a "generational issue."

Ocasio-Cortez tweeted after the news conference announcing the bill that "if "the wage gap is a myth" as some allege, then workplaces should have no problem with workers disclosing our salaries with one another."

The legislation would also prohibit employers from considering salary history as the basis for salaries, encourage pay equity, and help employers develop fair pay practices.

The Paycheck Fairness Act will also require the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to collect compensation data from employers in order to increase pay transparency and reveal pay discrimination.

True. Another factor which occurs to me, is that some dirty more dangerous work, with higher pay, are predominantly done by men. Relatively few women ever seek jobs in construction, or as truck drivers, for example.

Patriots are reminded that the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to Congress the specific power to regulate pay equality within the sovereign states. This means that pay equality is a constitutionally unchecked, 10th Amendment-protected state power issue.
”From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added].” —United States v. Butler, 1936.

So post-17th Amendment ratification federal Democrats and RINOs evidently planning to steal state powers to make “federal” pay equality laws amounts to politicking to win votes from low-information citizens and illegal aliens in 2020 elections.

In other words, corrupt Democratic lawmakers are hoping to get themselves reelected so that they can continue to steal state revenues in the form of unconstitutional federal taxes.

Insights welcome.

Where a Government hack decides that a female office manager should be paid as much as a male master welder working 50 stores up.

Or that a female data entry drone sitting in an air conditioned office should be paid as much as a male driving a 53' trailer through busy traffic and handling thousands of pounds of freight in the Phoenix sun?

“X still isn’t entitled to know what Y makes. “

I’m not saying they are entitled, legally or otherwise.

You can run your company any way you damn well please.
