It's always been a thin facade - the Left was bleating peace and love while they were throwing bombs during Vietnam. And they've always held that control of the state means that they can control the violence by monopoly, and they've always been wrong in that assumption in every civil conflict they've started. Once the shooting starts nobody can control it and it will rage until it burns itself out, which is one reason the Right in this country has been reluctant to resort to it. But when choosing peace is choosing suicide, it isn't really a choice.

Partisan control of the media led to the Rwandan massacre. You can talk your way into this sort of thing but you can't talk your way out of it. The wise individual is the one who does not face this thing unarmed.
