Note that by the student’s own words CO2 is a lagging indicator. That is it warms first then CO2 is released. This CO2 stuff is pretty much nonsense.

Carbon dioxide composes 0.04% of the earths atmosphere. I’m not worried.

Warming from the Little Ice Age would have produced 5-10 ppm rise over the folowing centuries. There is current 2-3 ppm rise per year that fluctuates with the world economy and ocean warmth. So natural warming has a role for sure, but the role is the reverse of what it used to be. The ocean now absorbs less of the "excess" CO2 when it warms and more of it when it cools. The excess is the manmade amount above equlibirium which woould probably be about 300 ppm these days.

Also to have CO2 suddenly rise with the industrial revolution is not just a weird coincidence. The most important thing to remember is that CO2 was the lowest in the history of the planet before we did that. So low that C4 plants evolved to consume low levels more efficiently. The earth is now in a permanent ice age with modest interglacials like the present one; The extra CO2 provides a buffer from return into a full blown glacial period (or even a deadly Little Ice Age).

Finally considering the weather this week, how can anyone say even a little bit of warming (e.g. 2F) wouldn't be welcomed?
