Hmm...., to think that in the 1950’s US post office stamps were 5 cents and airmail was 7 cents. News papers cost 5 cents, and comic books a dime.

The 3¢ rate for first-class had been unchanged since 1851, but by 1958 there were no more efficiency gains to keep the lid on prices, and the rate went to 4¢,

In the 1950s, First class was 3c, airmail was 6c.

Our local paper has a cover price of $1.

Comic books, depending on the book, are about $2.

At $.55, postage is still comparatively cheap.
