The Huffington Post cut down its commentary and healthcare teams Thursday.
As of this morning, HuffPost's opinion section is no more. I and the rest of the team have been let go, the former head of the opinion section at Huffington Post, Bryan Maygers, tweeted.
I spent the last few years reporting on two of the most pressing issues in public health gun violence and the opioid crisis and today @HuffPost eliminated its health team, former senior public health reporter at Huffington Post, Erin Schumaker, posted to Twitter Thursday, adding that she was in the market for a new job.

In shuttering its opinion and healthcare sections, a Huffington Post spokesperson said the media outlet is looking to invest in areas that have higher audience engagement.

HuffPost was basically a duplication of effort, since, they and Yahoo are one and the same. Yahoo and HuffPost are owned by Verizon, and Verizon is just streamlining their operations, and so, whatever HuffPost did before, will be produced by Yahoo. Those HuffPost repor... err... opinion writers may end up on the Yahoo division of Yahoo. In fact, Verizon may realize that, in the end, HuffPost and Yahoo are exactly the same, therefore, the HuffPost may be gone completely in the near future.
I rarely read HuffPo, and Im sorry I missed that article. Do you have a link? ;)
Like BSFeed, that means they’re firing everyone then?
So they shut the entire publication down?
Since when have they left their opinions on the opinion page?
Plenty of opportunities for somebody to wash my clothes and make me a sammich in that there photo.

Interesting.... but Yahoo hasn’t been exactly a thriving financial property for years..... won’t Verizon need to be trimming there, too?
Puff Ho provides a significant percentage of the articles on Yahoo. It is my only opportunity to take on the bilge coming from the Puff, as the rare times they allow comments on their articles necessitate a Faceborg account, and Im a refusenik.
The market for leftist hate and fake news is in oversupply and will be for the next 5 years.
I don’t know if it was voluntary or not, but I see that Liz Heron who posted that photo on Twitter in 2016 was formerly with HuffPo and no longer is. Don’t know whether she embarrassed them too much or if she left for her own reasons....
“Like the section on native Ethiopian cuisine. And the “how-to’s” for constructing Aztec fighting gear using pasta noodles. “
I’m laughing my ass off at that one.
Yeah, no hot babes.
The sammich wouldn’t survive getting from the kitchen to the living room.
And their armpit hair on the bologna might not be too appetizing anyway
Seriously?? The entire website is an “Opinion Section”.

Is this Satire?
Hard to tell, nowadays...
I think there’s a YouTube video on it. Just search for “Pre-Columbian Noodle Armor.”
Another thing to consider is when their periods start to synchronize. It must be like the 7th circle of hell in that office 5 days a month.

The few people who read HP don't care about the opioid crisis AND gun violence.
