Gregg Jarrett cautioned against Trump choosing Barr to replace Sessions as AG saying he is a Washington insider.

President Trump must stay away from establishment insiders who will never dare take on the DC swamp.

As for William Barr, yes unquestionable integrity, a fine reputation, great experience – he brings gravitas to the job but he is an establishment figure at a time that I think we need a disruptor as Attorney General,” Jarrett said, adding, “Somebody who would vigorously go after corrupt officials at the FBI and Department of Justice who were abusing their positions of power and attempting to undermine democracy.”

Jarrett then concluded, “I’m afraid Barr is not that guy

Beginning to sound like Trump screwed up again. WTH is going on? Can't he get an outsider who has no ties? Concentrate Trump or you will get things so screwed up there will be no return.

Many of us posters have been begging Trump to dump Sessions at least 6 months ago. Also at that time fire Rosenstein and release all documents to Congress Republicans. Really screwed up here and I feel that is why we lost the House.

Trump is not unaware, but I think Trump nominated him because he needed someone that could get confirmed. If he nominated a disruptor, he would not get through the Senate process. For better or worse, it shows Trump is a realist. There are worse traits.

Unfortunately DJT still makes personnel choices quickly based on comments from people he trusts who are not in government and constantly bite on permanent government propaganda that X is a greatguy. I don't know why he is so lax this way he knows by now that government and his sector of the private sector operate differently but keeps falling for the same line of BS. It would take talking to both movement and alternative conservative leaders and it would probably end in picking someone the uniparty and the media would start screaming about to deflect from a serious discussion of the persons views. The pick might be a state Assistant A G or a professor from some place such as the Mises Institute both who are originalists. Trump would have to fight the battle to start having high level picks that actually support him. Barr is just another insider. How could he not be as long as he has been around DC?

Just in passing debate does not exist in the public forum any more, it is just screaming and bumper sticker put downs. This did start way back in the 80’s when talk shows were told to start having screaming matches to get more audience share and make them more entertainment oriented. Now that is all there is.

Like Kellyann Conway. I have not trusted that woman from day one. She’s one of the few people who has been there from day one so I’m thinking she has input.

Good grief, the usual suspects live to pile on Trump. Some of you folks remind me of Never Trumpers!

If you keyboard warriors can do better than Trump has done, get off your sorry A$$es and run for POTUS!

I can’t think of a better choice for USAG than Joe DiGenova.
That’s who Trump should have picked.

It is baffling. Hiring should have been one of his strengths. He eve bragged about it on the campaign. But here we are. One step forward firing Sessions, two steps back appointing Barr.

Digenova really seems to think Barr is a good pick. That is the main reason I thought so, too. But, as always, one can never be entirely sure of anyone anymore ...

BINGO!

Getting a Confirmation matters!

What do we expect?

Name a Trump supporter who can get confirmed, for AG.

Barr seems be a doughty old guy, with no axes to grind, who does know the law and the Justice Department (and who stepped out at a time when it was not popular to do so) to site the law which itself defended the office of the president and rebuked the tactics at the FBI.

Let us hope he is harmless, and can get confirmed and then free to go expose the nefarious, and to call an end to the weaponization of a once admired institution— the FBI/JD.

Look, it may be a *plus* if he proves to be just a seat warmer, considering the past AG’s who were actively engaged in *framing Trump*, or who left him to twist in the wind.

A good friend of Mueller If Barr can't put that aside and do what is right we might as well have Rosenstein

I hope that Joe DiGenova is right

Barr needs to not let his personal relationship with Mueller get in the way of justice.

But who knows, Barr could be pretending to be the right guy but in the end may try to hang Trump out to dry.

Applause all around, Art.

We sound like a car load of adolescents lined up for a fast food window, and can’t play checkers, but want the game win before it’s even over.

To your point I think he depends a lot on Jared and Ivanka. Not sure he trusts many outside his small inner circle.

I also think it would be difficult to get someone through who didn’t have significant prosecutorial experience. There are some republican senators who may seem supportive, but who would stab him in the back if they could justify it.

We’re farked unless Trump appoints a special counsel.

It’s looking more and more like PDJT is under the gun.

I agree...well said!

Trump is the only thing standing between us and the Deep State tyrants!

I once again throw up the challenge for those critical of Trump to run for office and show us all how it’s done!

If I'd have been picking, I'd stick with Matt Whitaker.

Don't know much about him other than the left hates him.

That's good enough for me right there.

Wasn’t Gregg Jarrett saying last week or the week before how awesome Barr was going to be.

Geez, I give up. Why is Trump picking all of the Deep State people ?
