what’s interesting about this, imho, is the location of Weed, California... a small rural area town .. hundreds of miles removed from San Fransicko (and even farther from Lost Angels)
if a church’s parishioners don’t want to hear the Bible taught or preached, that’s their privilege.. but they really should remove the Christian identifiers from their organization....its false advertising to claim to be a Christian church and then refuse to have your pastor read the Bible to you
The town is located right along I-5. I have relatives about an hour east of there. Where they live there are farm and ranch folks, but around Mt Shasta it’s more touristy. My sis in law is a RE agent in Modoc county and has said that there are a lot of folks that, upon retirement, have left the big cities and have moved north. Her husband laments: “and they bring their liberal mindset with them”.
The rural northwest IL Presbyterian church that my wife, toddler son, and I left over 36 yrs ago was headed toward liberal ideas. About 10 yrs after we left a big split happened, with the conservative, old school Presbies buying a church building in a town a few miles away. They joined the PCA.
Weed is named for an early resident, Abner Weed, a native of Maine who fought in the Civil War and witnessed Lee’s surrender at Appomattox. He died in 1917. I don’t know if Steve Weed, Patty Hearst’s boyfriend at the time of her kidnapping, is related to Abner Weed.
They already have. There's no word "presbyterian" anywhere in the Bible. It's a man made religion and a man made church. There's nothing Christian about it.
Matt 7:21-23: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
It is interesting. Evidently Weed is full of tares.
Also this outfit is not connected with PCUSA or PCA - it’s the “Bible Presbyterian Church.” The hierarchy (presbytery and above) appears to be Bible-believing.
