Mandoyan served as a trusted member of Villanuevas campaign team, acting as his driver and rallying rank-and-file deputies to lobby their union to endorse his long-shot candidacy.
But Mandoyan didnt have the typical resume of a campaign worker. He served as a deputy for 10 years until he was fired in 2016 by then-Sheriff Jim McDonnell in connection with allegations of domestic abuse and stalking. A county appeals board heard evidence and upheld the dismissal.
Despite this, Villanueva decided to reinstate Mandoyan as a deputy in the Sheriffs Department, where he is assigned to the South Los Angeles station.

It's hard to believe this glaring double standard between those in government and the rest of us. It's in your face obvious.
We had a black guy on our department who was a Lieutenant who got arrested for buying crack cocaine from an undercover cop in uniform while his crew was waiting for him in a fire engine. He of course was let go.
But after his best buddy on the fire department, another black guy became chief, he was rehired and given back all of his previous seniority. Somehow despite being an almost complete moron he did so well on promotional exams that within a very short time he was a battalion chief. At this time he is currently suing the department claiming that he has been discriminated against by his subordinates and others and might have to retire early because of the stress it has caused him.
