Ah yes, I remember Patsy well! Too well.

She was #2 on the House Military Affairs Committee (now Armed Services).

In speeches she pronounced Nuclear as "noo-kee-ler". I cringed each time I heard that, and was grateful she didn't represent *my* district. (But since I lived in Boulder, represented by carpetbagger Tim Wirth(less), she wouldn't have been much worse).

She would have been the next Chair if Newt hadn't ruined the Democrats' big party by leading the GOP takeover in '94.

I remember guffawing at her TV ads during her 1st election in '70 or '72, because they were 100% image & 0% substance. They looked exactly like those old Breck commercials of a woman running in slo-mo towards the camera with the long hair slowly flouncing up & down. The camera panned from a typical Colorado high country mountain backdrop down to a hillside of wildflowers that she was running through. It was sooooo stupid, but in retrospect it probably convinced most Colorado female voters in her district to pull the lever for her.

She got the last laugh re: “Fightertown Follies” by forcing the fighter squadrons at NAS Miramar to move to Falllon, NV.

HST, the skits besmirching & belittling Patsy at the Follies were soooooo special!

Every Naval Aviator serving at that time hated that woman!
