I had an instructor at a private trade school I believed was a Vietnam vet. He was stand up enough to admit he wasn’t but when you read his bio he listed himself as Viet Nam Era, veteran.” Slightly misleading.
Calls to Senator Blumenthal’s office for comment were not returned ........
No. You just misunderstood. A lot of us served during the “Vietnam Era” but never when near the place. FYI: Vietnam era enlisted vets have the lousiest benefits you could imagine. But, given the times, we were lucky to get any at all ...

Not misleading, he served during the Vietnam era but was not in Vietnam.
****Viet Nam Era, veteran.***
Does not mean he was in Vietnam. I was in the USAF from 1966-1969 and flew over VN twice, stationed in Thailand, flew several “combat” missions off the coast, but never passed myself off as a Vietnam Vet.
Several of the men I worked with in private industry definitely were ground combat vets, Some in WWII, Korea and Viet Nam.
Vietnam Era Vet is a valid term. It distinguishes veterans who did not go to Vietnam during that time from the Vietnam Vets who did go.
