Yes, it was him who cursed. And now that he has, it’ll be easier the next time and then the next, and it will be as natural as “How ya doin’?” And so for his viewers. Sad.

First time I ever heard the word on network TV was during a singing performance by Gilda Radner on SNL in the early seventies. Never heard such after that.

Culturally, something happened to the US in the seventies. I immigrated to Canada at a time when men just did not curse around women. When coming back to the States eight years later, I was shocked to hear young women cursing in public without a hint of self-consciousness. Maybe it was the gas shortages...
