I’ve heard where that “fashion trend” was started in prison, where they don’t allow belts. So it enhances the person’s tough-guy image.
“What? Nah - I’ve never been to prison. But I look like I have, that’s the main thing.”
That’s bullshit. Belts are provided in general population. Now that doesn’t mean that the younger prisoners don’t TRY to wear their pants like that. In fact, one of the sentences I said most upon entering the cell block was “ dude, pull up your damn psnts!”
