We formerly had Verizon for our landline, but now have Comcast.

FYI, those are VOIP lines, not actual land lines.

When we cut the cord we dropped everything except Internet. For the "land line" we ported the number to our T-Mobile account, but without a corresponding device, so the cost is only ten bucks a month. We forward the calls to Mrs. Chandler's cell, which blocks a lot of the "scam" calls.

I'm thinking about porting that number to Google Voice. Then the cost will be $0 per month.

We just call it a landline because it’s not a cellphone & is stationary in one spot in the house. :-) My folks are over 90 so cell phones are not something they are comfortable with. They have Tracfone flip phones to carry for emergencies & can barely use them - usually have to give them a “refresher” course every time they leave the house.
