A friend of mine took out a spark plug on his dad’s car. He told his dad that a part is on order but it is a difficult one to find. So far, so good.
We did sort of the same thing. Disabled Hubby’s dad’s car. Next thing we knew someone from the dealership he had dealt with all his life was there to tow it into the shop because....there’s something wrong with it. lol We had to go to the dealership and then take it to a storage unit. Next thing we knew he was driving the dealership nuts with 30 calls a day wanting to know where his car was. Was a huge fiasco and we never heard the last about that stupid car. He had dementia.
I like that idea! In both my husband's family and mine, I was the Designatd Liar to "the Moms".
For DH's mom, I saw her daily and the lies varied with the weather and her moods. The point of the lies were to keep her safe - "Hello, cab company? You are not allowed to pick up my mom at this address and take her to the Superstore. She has dementia and no money." "Mom, guess what? The cab company won't drive out here anymore!"
In my family, I was the only one brave enough to lie to my mom (she could shoot lightening out of her eyes). And both families were big Catholic families...what are the odds that I would be the DL for both teams? LOL
When my dad’s license expired he talked about renewing but kept forgetting due to short term memory loss. I was not going to remind him.
