I agree with both of you in that a wall is necessary. And Ron Paul is not saying that it’s not. What he is saying is that it is important to reduce the incentives the cause illegals to come to the US in the first place.
I like Rand Paul. But I’m no big fan of his father. As I noted previously, I think Ron Paul is a bit kooky. But he is right about the incentives problem.
Consider this. Suppose that the wall is built, but nothing is done about those incentives. What will happen the next time a Democrat takes the White House? I’m rather sure that an executive order will be issued: Install gates in the wall. Then open those gates.
Not only that, but welfare for able-bodied Citizens is the main reason Americans are happy with illegals “doing the jobs that Americans won’t do.”
Get rid of welfare, and that problem goes away.
