WASHINGTON Along the 2,000-mile border with Mexico, which sprawls across four states and nine House districts, a single seat is held by a Republican: Representative Will Hurd of Texas.
And Mr. Hurd, a former undercover C.I.A. officer who barely won re-election in Texas 23rd District, the largest of the nine, has emerged as perhaps the most persistent critic in his party of President Trumps wall.
Drawing upon his years undercover and his work in the private sector, Mr. Hurd has a starkly different vision for the southwestern border: fiber optic cables, sensors, radar, drones, increased staffing but not the concrete or steel barrier that Mr. Trump has demanded before he reopens the government.

That there’s only one of him says it all as to how much illegal overflow has tainted our voting pool.
Someone needs to check into HIS finances For sure hes stuffing his pockets with smuggling dollars
But illegals don’t vote!!!

A state deeper. Covert border protector. These are the state deeply creeps. Unfortunately our _intelligence_ agencies are a massive portion of the problem. They pretend to protect us while spying a manipulating everything and anything. Pretending they are god. Pretending to _be_ our government. Above our law.
Truly our government, behind the curtain, darkly.

All those can be switched off or dismissed by a dim administration. Not so a wall.

More importantly, the devices just detect that someone has entered illegally. The "increased staffing" will be required to process the increased asylum requests.
All of which would cost more than a wall long term. Your sensors detect invaders; by the time you get troops to the location they've dispersed into U.S. territory. Increased staffing = more government jobs = more pay, more pensions, continuously.
Which cartel is funding his campaigns? 'Cause they're the ones who benefit most from lack of a barrier.
Is he BLACK?? His picture makes him look black.
This guy has been paid off by Republican business interests and is helping them import cheap labor?
Then he should keep all the illegals in his district.
Until then we have a greater interest in border crossings because the illegals cross his district to get to our districts.
Once they fan out across the nation they sell dope, rob, steal, rape, kill and destroy our communities.
Irrelevant. The Border is a gateway to most of the territory represented by all 435 members of Congress. Moreover, Hawaii should not even be a state.
Former CIA huh... that says it all...
Pretty sure like a street gang member death is the only way out of that club.
Must be one of the Kenyan’s “CIA” boys.
Or simply ignored. You can have all the sensors in the world, but if your boss says “No. Don’t send anyone out to check that human motion detection.” then people walk right through.
If he's wrong, he's wrong. Tell him, but all the name-calling going on isn't going to convince anybody.
I doubt his super-high-tech system of drones and sensors will be more effective than walls or barriers -- any border security system is going to involve a variety of different methods reinforcing each other and backing each other up -- but people can disagree without ridiculing or vilifying those who think differently.

“Along the 2,000-mile border with Mexico... (only) a single seat is held by a Republican”
Shows how effective the immigrant flow is in flipping Congressional districts.
I think there is some effect along the border, where a percentage of people really would like the security from a good wall, but won’t admit it because of social pressure.
