Since having children is a mix of culture, incentives, politics and necessity - how were these numbers created?
Population growth has followed a pattern across all cultures as modern medicine and birth control have been introduced. There is no guarantee that the trends would apply everywhere, but large parts of the world are already experiencing population decline. The USA and Europe would have declining populations without immigration. The Chinese have pretty much ended the one child policy.
