GOP senator: Pelosi suggesting moving the State of the Union is "making things worse"

Republican Senator John Kennedy called Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s request to move the date of the State of the Union address a “tactic” that is “making things worse.”

Kennedy suggested that President Trump should speak before the Senate instead if he is unwelcome in the House.

“I think the President ought to go ahead and give the State of the Union as normal,” Kennedy said. “He can come to the Senate if Mrs. Pelosi doesn’t want him to come to the House. I just think that sort of tactic is making things worse.”

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told CNN hours later: "The State of the Union is off" — but had to walk back those definitive comments later. "Mr. Hoyer had not read Speaker Pelosi's letter and mischaracterized it," Hoyer spokeswoman Mariel Saez said in a statement.

Actually they could do this. The President per the constitution is only required to give a State of the Union to the Congress. It used to be given in writing up until the 20th century. The speaker of the house invites people to speak before the house. I say let her cancel it. These people ran on a platform that they can govern. Let them show they can't. Actually with the shutdown they are already showing that, but this will bring the point home.

99% of Americans won’t miss it.

Of that 99%, probably half don't know there is such a thing as a SOTU address. Of the remaining 49.5 %, probably half are too stoned to care. Of the last 49.5 % half are so filled with Trump hate that they'd throw away their TV, tablet, phone, or whatever rather than watch the object of their hate. The remaining 24.7% will be at work on second shift.

Of the 1% who will miss it, the majority are fake news employees who only cared so they could twist the Presidents words to advance their Communist agenda. It really won't effect them anyway, as they will just make up whatever fits.

Actually not a bad idea. It truly is “The State of the Nation” that would be displayed. Along with this the pictures of the walls around House and Senate members homes.

“The State of the Union” should really be the state of the Union.
