Boston Mayor Martin Walsh wants to mandate that Doctors teach patients about gun safety. It appears to be another Orwellian definition. Gun safety in these circumstances seems to mean getting rid of guns. There is no mention of using known gun safety experts who have been working on the subject for decades. From bizjournals.com:
Involving doctors in gun safety: This act would require medical professionals to ask patients about guns in the home, and bring up the topics of gun safety. The goal, Boston Police Commissioner William Gross said, is to identify those at risk for domestic violence, suicide or child access to guns in order to guide people to mental health counseling, resources or other help. “We’re just asking them to help identify ways to save lives,” Gross said.
The fact that a patient owns guns would not be put in their medical record, and is not intended to have physicians help solve crimes.
Chief of Health and Human Services Marty Martinez said that while the program is already common practice at many of the city’s community health centers, legislation would broaden the program statewide.
The claim is the ownership of guns will not be put in a patients medical records. If not, how will the ownership of guns help to “guide people to mental health counseling, resources, or other help”? Maybe the information will be stored somewhere else.

I remember reading or hearing about a dentist that would report families to child protective services when they didn’t return their children for recommended treatment.
Been moving into a communist dictatorship for many years. Only Trump saw this and is making many changes back to a Constitutional land.
My standard answer was “Break in some night and find out. If you walk out, I don’t. If you are carried out I do.”
Problem with lying is that it undermines your credibility on other matters. Find a way to answer that is not a lie. Leave the lying to others.

I’ve been asked some weird questions like this when going into the emergency room.
Once when going in for a really bad cold they asked if I felt safe going to my home environment. I told them I have cats and you can never really feel safe with those dastardly creatures around.
I’ve been asked if anyone close to me has hit me lately. NOYFB.
Last August I was in for a concussion. They asked me if I felt like hitting someone. I said...Do you mean just today?? Then I just shook my head and ignored them.
I’m a smart ass so I would never answer their stupid questions but I’m sure most would.

Most doctors today don’t have time to treat whatever you’re there for much less deal with our private lives which are none of their damn business.
Most people I talk to have very little faith in their doctors these days who are nothing more than pharmaceutical salesmen. All they do is hand out prescriptions made in some third-world cesspool with side effects that damage you for life.
