The U.S. Navys top surface warfare officer has issued a call to action or a warning to his crews: They need to develop a sense of urgency regarding the Russian and Chinese navies.
In an address to the Surface Navy Association in Washington, D.C., this week, Vice Adm. Richard Brown said that U.S. warship crews, for the first time since the Cold War, must make ready for aggressive actions by adversaries with peer or near-peer capabilities at sea, such as when a Chinese navy destroy came within yards of scraping paint off a U.S. destroyer last fall in the South China Sea.
Also, for the first time since World War II, junior officers and enlisted personnel may have to step in for senior leaders if they are cut off our killed outright during a surprise attack using sophisticated new weapons, Breaking Defense reported.

Given the report I saw here yesterday on the Fitzgerald collision, the navy, but probably all the services, need to rethink over reliance on technology, operations standards, male and female crew member issues, and a better system to develop junior offices and petty officers.
PRC wants the USN tooling around no closer than Guam or maybe Midway.
Next time a Chinese warship comes that close sink it. A war with China will happen sooner or later, might as well destroy China.
Looks like almost every march I’ve even been on with female soldiers. We invariably ended up carrying their rucks, rifles and even helmets.
Of course, they regained their equipment and weapons 100 yards before the finish line.
Hmmm
By the diagram, it looks like the ‘ladies’ in the rear are texting to the Squad Leader and the Guide on.
However, are the ‘Guys’ in formation (however loosely) and just ‘overtaking’ the ladies on the walkway OR are the Guys carrying the Gals junk?
Ah, yes, I can now see where the ‘others’ pointed out are double geared...One may say that ‘maybe’ the double packers said something snide to the ladies (like ‘Good Morning) and are ordered to pack OR ‘they’ are being gentlemanly.
You are either in the Army or not.
Not surprisingly, this story mischaracterizes Brown’s speech. The reports of the speech do not contain a Russia or China quote.
How bad is it that an admiral has to remind those under his command that they need to be battle-ready?
It looks like this Admiral is looking for the Democrats to win in 2020. I predict that if they win in 2020 we will be in a shooting war within 6 months. It’s the only way they can distract the people from their activities.
Yep, the toxic fellows are carrying the grrrls’ gear while the grrrrls are kibitzing in the rear. Two years ago I attended a military parade in downtown Chicago featuring ROTC and JROTC from the greater Chicago area. The kids meant well, I’m sure, but they weren’t an impressive bunch — slovenly, slouching, shuffling, many overweight and downright obese.
Buy our stuff or we will attack you. This would be a great way for china to mess up all the gains it has made in the last 30 years.
Where are we supposed to consider ourselves threatened by Russia? Reagan made peace with them when they were still an offially communist atheist empire that occupied half of Europe. Now they are a Christian country with basically no extraterritorial possessions Why are we supposed to consider them a threat today and treat them as an enemy? Other than because the American neocons and Hillary Democrats want us in a perpetual state of war - and they also hate Russias Christianity?
through the day and through the night..!
Looks like Soldiers doing PT ... Most of them are carrying heavy packs. Two are not. The two carrying no load have their hair up in buns.
Odd ...
WTF?!
Public defenders of China and “free trade” ( really f-— trade ) need to be nervous. Your day of reckoning is fast approaching.
We can stop all trade with out enemies then also.
