We drive on federally-built and maintained roads. Most people (you included, probably) went to a federally-funded school. 24 hours a day 365 days a year the military remains poised to defend you and everyone you know. That stuff ain’t free. Yes, we have screwed a LOT of things up in the last 243 years, but taxes are a way of life and without them things would be much worse. I live in NYC, I WISH I only paid 30%! I need to live where you do.

I've got about 10 acres; assessed at a bit over $200,000, 30 miles from Indy, paid about $1700 in property taxes last year.
The snow plow goes by within at least 12 hours after it comes down. My blower and me can clear out to the road.

One night I called 911 for assistance with an elderly lady that was in difficulty at our place. The person on the line told me to go out to the road to make sure the EMTs etc. did not over shoot our location.
I hung up; open the door and started down the driveway. Before I got to the end of it, the red light guys were already turning in!!
(Turns out the lady was ok; just had not taken her meds correctly.)

Do you know how many companies Tillerson worked for in his career? The answer: One. Oh, and he ran the Boy Scouts of America for a couple of years. LOL
Not exactly the worldly experience one needs to be Secretary of State. And he had zero experience in government. Tillerson was clueless at DoS. The bureaucrats ran all over him.
Terrible pick unless you want a babe in the woods to run your foreign policy and manage the pampered elites in the State Department.
