At least eighteen (18) of its 35 Landing Craft Utility (LCU) will be sold off or transferred to the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (DRMO). Landing Craft Utility (LCU), a versatile 174- foot landing craft capable of carrying 500 tons of cargo, personnel and containers, is the workhorse of the Army Watercraft field."

It would not be Free Republic without everyone being qualified in everything, at least in their own minds. In my experience, a few people weighing in, on whatever, actually are qualified.
An old joke about rabbis(that I actually once heard from a rabbi) is that whenever 3 rabbis get in a theological argument, you will hear five different opinions. This applies to FR, as well.

Thanks for that. I didn’t know about Ft. Story, but I see it could be the reason for the dismantling of the 100 year old amphibious division of the Army.
It’s not beyond the wealthy Democrats/Democrat donors who want property in Hampton Roads for their personal purpose to manipulate the government to achieve their goals. Pelosi, Feinstein, so many others are known for gaining great wealth while allegedly serving the people of this country. It could be because of a politician’s personal politicking for profit.
I’ve said for years that we should stop ALL foreign aid to EVERYONE, and only restore it on a case-by-case basis when it provides a clear benefit to the United States.
But providing emergency aid to people suffering nearby is the right thing to do. Apples-oranges.
