Doric Greeks, like Alexander and his progeny, were often fair haired.
Crusher138:
What does that mean, often, what %. The Mycenaean Greeks were the Greeks who set up much of what we know about ancient Greece. Doric Greeks were more of a group do to the Greek dialect they spoke. Ethnically, they were not different from other Greeks to the degree you suggest.

The peer reviewed article above using DNA analysis indicates a continuity in the DNA of modern Greeks vs. Greeks from the Classical era before Christ.

The Doric Greeks, who were more from the West North West also were part of the colonization of Sicily and Southern Italy. Peer reviewed academic studies indicate that Greek DNA contributes to 37% of the DNA of Sicily and that the populations of Sicily and Southern Italy are substantially the same. The reason I state that is because my ancestors are from Sicily, and the study below indicates that the 37% of Sicilian DNA, and by extension similar amount of the DNA in Southern Italy is from Greece.

If you look at the DNA structure of Italy as a whole for example, you will see the same Haplogroups, but with some variation from region to region. So if you look at Sicily vs. Latium (Rome) and even Liguria in NW Italy, the variation is not that much. So given the large amount of Greek DNA, one wonders where are all the Blond haired Blue Eyed Nordics.

The article linked below has some detailed analysis and once again links Sicily and Southern Italy to Greek as sharing the same DNA history

This article is another one that looks at ancient Greece DNA samples. Again, they cluster with Sicily and Southern Italy and it rejects the replacement hypothesis of all the Northern European Nordic-centrist and it also contradicts these militant afro-centrist who want to claim all the medieval societies stole from them.
So out of every 100 Greeks, could their have been maybe 10 blondes, which probably meant dirty blond or lighter brown hair, yes. Did they look like Swedish or Norwegians, heck no.
they were Sothern Europeans-(Mediterranean’s) Cranial and facial features European (i.e. Nose, facial shape, skull etc) but externally brunette to darker hair (European texture) and predominantly brown eyes. Skin pigmentation would be what we would say is “White” but it would be more between type 2-3. Fair outside of sun but likely to tan in the sun (maybe burn sometimes), but certainly not Type 1 fair skin found in the Northernmost parts of Europe.
