It doesn’t matter if it’s privately owned. That’s beside the point. The point is, an official of this country feels the need to leave the country for better healthcare. Maybe in KY yeah. But not elsewhere making Canada the better option.

Not to mention the optics of spending $8k when you have insurance, people aren’t working and millions don’t have healthcare.

Who are these millions without healthcare?

Leaving the country for healthcare is not uncommon because there are places that are cheaper and better. Spending out-of-pocket is very common even with insurance.

Maybe he is making a statement. No doubt his assailant will be charged for some of the costs. And Paul can use his personal experience with Canadian health care to suggest improvements to our own.

I wish my aunt had gone to this specialty hospital for her hernia surgery. Maybe she wouldn’t have had to have three subsequent surgeries and gotten so tired of life that she went into hospice to die.

Having researched Shouldice when my husband needed a hernia fixed (uninsured) I can tell you that this is a reasonable and intelligent choice both for cost and superior expertise and care.

Yahoo’s “up to $8000) is BS, it will be less than half of that unless this involves a mesh removal instead of simple repair.
