This commercial is based on a deliberately absurd gag, which is true for a lot of commercials. There may even be a subliminal ironic message that “’Toxic’ is the way to go” — and PG wouldn’t care, if it sold its widgets that way. This is how Archie Bunker got to be so beloved instead of an antihero. He was a fumble bum, but everybody understood what he meant.
