I’M A SENIOR TRUMP OFFICIAL, AND I HOPE A LONG SHUTDOWN SMOKES OUT THE RESISTANCE
The Daily Caller ^ | :00 AM 01/14/2019 | Senior Trump Official

Posted on 01/14/2019 8:53:36 AM PST by SmokingJoe

The Daily Caller is taking the rare step of publishing this anonymous op-ed at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose career would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers. We invite you to submit a question about the essay or our vetting process here.

As one of the senior officials working without a paycheck, a few words of advice for the president’s next move at shuttered government agencies: lock the doors, sell the furniture, and cut them down.

Federal employees are starting to feel the strain of the shutdown. I am one of them. But for the sake of our nation, I hope it lasts a very long time, till the government is changed, and can never return to its previous form.

The lapse in appropriations is more than a battle over a wall. It is an opportunity to strip wasteful government agencies for good.

On an average day roughly 15 percent of the employees around me are exceptional patriots serving their country. I wish I could give competitive salaries to them, and no one else. But 80 percent feel no pressure to produce results. If they don’t feel like doing what they are told, they don’t.

Why would they? We can’t fire them. They avoid attention, plan their weekend, schedule vacation, their second job, their next position, some do this in the same position for more than a decade.

They do nothing that warrants punishment and nothing of external value. That is their workday: errands for the sake of errands; administering, refining, following and collaborating on process. “Process is your friend” is what delusional civil servants tell themselves. Even senior officials must gain approval from every rank across their department, other agencies and work units for basic administrative chores.

Process is what we serve, process keeps us safe, process is our core value. It takes a lot of people to maintain the process. Process provides jobs. In fact, there are process experts and certified process managers who protect the process. Then there are the 5 percent with moxy (career managers). At any given time they can change, clarify or add to the process — even to distort or block policy counsel for the president.

“They are getting paid all of it, when the Democrats agree with
the American people and fund the wall.”

YES, but if it goes on long enough, any number of them will be forced out onto the street because they live paycheck to paycheck. And that’s a good thing.

Cool cartoon, but that was last week’s “Talking Points”. This week it’s “Vanity Wall”, IIRC. Heard a quick montage of yesterday’s chattering class shows and every last one of them referred to the “Vanity Wall” in some respect.

What’s worse is that the people that watch these shows believe it hook, line and sinker. Have one friend who thinks these shows and Stevie Coal-burt are telling the “true” news, and anything on Fox is “fake”.

We were talking about pre-school in Caliph-phony-a (she and my wife are retired private pre-school teachers), and she was going on and on about how Betsy DeVos is going to ruin the school system. Of course, she poo-pooh’ed my comment that having the state take over the 3 and 4 year old programs was just another way to get more Union teachers in there, since about 99.44% of public school teachers here are in the Teacher’s Union, while about 10-20% of the private school teachers are unionized.

My old man used to call it the 5-15-80 rule and he was right. That aside, this is fake news.

Well stated. The long shutdown will force those not committed to combating the left to eventually call for the government to be reopened and thus, for socialism to continue, unabated, in the US experiment.

What rule would that be?

Has a single Federal employee quit his position over the “shutdown” yet? If any have, I’m sure they represent less than 0.01% of the workforce.

Over 80% federal employees live and work in Ca! Next, they live and work in VA then in DC!

Don’t know but when I found out the “non-essential government employees” are living and working in Nirvana on the Left Coast, I’m thinking, heck yes, let these kale smoothie loving tree huggers quit those miserable, “non-essential” jobs and get a real one if they’re so miserable waiting out their “shutdown!”

“It will drastically reduce the invasion of illegals to the American people”

That is the problem. It will work. That is exactly why the Dems do not want a wall. They want all the illegals to come in. Then they are going to push to give them the right to vote. They are already doing this.

I can’t wait for the light bulb in the public’s head to go off when they realize that they do not need Big Government. Then the Tax Savings from Smaller Government light bulb goes off......

I have worked on the inside (the VA) and I could NOT agree with this article more. The useless deadwood, the crazies, the incompetent, the unqualified, and the just plain lazy THRIVE in these jobs. Most of what we call the “government” could be abolished TOMORROW without a single hitch in our giddyup. And there are AT LEAST 3 cabinet post that SHOULD be abolished.

The transmission of “daily talking points” is far more primitive than a fax machine. In reality it is the Associated Press newswire. 1848 tech.

Actually, it is a pretty normal Pareto distribution applicable to many fields. Here are just two examples.

Sales: 80% of your sales come from 5% of your customers; 15% of your sales come from 15% of your customers; 5% of your sales come from 80% of your customers.

Purchasing: 80% of your purchases come from 5% of your vendors; 15% of your purchases come from 15% of your vendors; 5% of your purchases come from 80% of your vendors.

In either case, we are talking dollar volume, not number of incidents. We are also talking at a manufacturing/marco level; not an individual retail/micro level.

Hi. I hope you are doing well.

Any letter or email I write, any post on FR or social media, I use my real name. When I communicate with anyone, I want to be totally transparent.

(Sure, I’ve had some death threats, but everthing is cool now).

I don’t want to be anonymous.

That’s really cool, thanks for the post. I was familiar with gaussian distributions (from physics - lasers have gaussian distributions for example) but not Pareto distributions.

IF Trump lays off 20%===200,000 ‘workers’ who each make $average of 80,000 plus benefits, that equals $16 BILLION in one year.

That is the WALL money-—clean & fast.

Such a drop in ‘workers’ will help DC traffic, and other costs such as space, heat, desks, computers, power,,,,,etc.
