Whom do you think will emerge? “

Ouch!

As to the real leader, that person is whoever rises to the circumstances. We never know what our talents or capabilities really are until they are tested. The lout who thinks he can beat up anybody doesn’t know otherwise until somebody takes him down with such ease he has to admit he is overmatched. This is true for anything. The tennis champion who gets his butt handed to him by a challenger even though he is at the top of his personal game learns his true place in the tennis pecking order. So it is with politics. As probably the most familiar example, Hitler had no idea he had a talent for oratory before he stood on a table and waxed eloquently in a beer hall and everybody applauded. So who is this real leader? Even that person has no idea until he/she/ze/em/per/ver (I had to look up the pronouns) takes the challenge and finds (I’m just going with “they”) find they have significant followers and money pouring in. We will know who this person is because “they” will take a significant portion of the non-aligned voters, which is where elections are won or lost.

Incidentally, I am in Florida where ex-felons can now vote. My ex-felon employee got a card in the mail. He dropped it in the mail on Monday and on Thursday he had his voter ID. If he is any indication, Florida has seen its last Republican in office. This from the internet: “Florida is a particularly egregious police state. 35% of adult blacks in Florida have felony conviction, 14% of the total adult population in Florida have a felony conviction. “ We are a police state,” but Tallahassee has one of the worst murder rates in the state. Living there, I’d say there is insufficient policing. (But, that’s a different subject.)
