After Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg missed her first oral arguments in more than 25 years on the bench this week while recovering from an operation to remove two cancerous growths from her left lung, many have expressed concern over whether she would return to the bench.
While doctors have said that Ginsburg's recovery time would be "normal" for the procedure she underwent, the 85-year-old's third struggle with cancer comes at a critical time for the Supreme Court. If Ginsburg, who will turn 86 in March, is unable to return to the bench, President Donald Trump would have the chance to nominate a third Supreme Court justice to the highest U.S. court.

RBG could have retired at the start of Obama’s second term when she was in her late 70s but she gambled that Hillary as the historic first woman president would nominate her replacement. She lost that gamble with no one to blame but herself. What a shame. /s
Especially because Kavanaugh seems to have been hand picked by Kennedy to be his replacement. The idiot dems went to the wall to fight to keep a wimpy moderate swing vote type justice off the court. Kavanaugh looks like a dream pick for the libs to me. He'll probably vote with the wise latina half the time.
Believe whatever crazy crap you choose, he’s still the chief justice just the same. If Thomas was the one who was sick you’d be demanding he be allowed to vote.
If a Thomas were at death door I suspect he would do the right thing and resign.
Exactly! Kavanaugh’s not even going to be super-conservative. He’ll remain the swing vote. But it was election season, and Schumer wanted to show how “tough” they would be. Dimwit.
Stop with the pre-intimidation, already! It’s not working.
“Brutal?” I guess in all the Democrats screaming about the sky is falling but the GOP has two more Senatorial seats then when Kavanaugh was confirmed.
I think the fact that another caravan is forming, 15,000 strong to start the trek north, with the possibility of it reaching 100,000 invaders by the time it reaches our southern border, stopping it should not be considered “domestic spending.” Besides which, if we fail to do what is necessary now because sometime in the future the method might be misused is destructive and dangerous. Let the future take care of itself, let the people alive then decide what they need to do. Let us do what we NEED to do!!!!!
ok i just wanna old pony, a 1968 mustang fastback in particular, with a 390 fe please
:-)
Following CJ Roberts’ logic, there are not right or left justices, so the installation of any old justice would have no effect one way or the other.
Just to be safe, I would recommend the most ferocious originalist.
Everybody dies eventually. RBG has a terminal cancer and will probably go this year.
Put me down for April 1st in the betting pool.
Hi.
“1968 mustang fastback in particular, with a 390 fe please”
My good friend Jim had one, and believe it or not we could outrun the Broward county sheriff dept’s radios.
They’re probably still looking for Jim after all these years.

” I do not believe she will retire.”
Neither do I, she will die within 6 months without ever stepping down.
Yes, when Republicans are choosing.
Might I suggest that she put them on her head...
She is 85. She has cancer. She is going to pass on sooner rather than later.
I’d rather have Alito’s younger brother, if there is such a thing. I couldn’t ever see him changing.
True as that might be, she will be forced politically to remain on the SCOTUS instead of retiring and making the most of her remaining time. Therein lies the problem with our court system.
I’d take a 1970 AAR 440 ‘Cuda over that ‘Stang any day :-) Glorious music from that naturally aspirated Hemi engine...
“Roberts already said she is receiving briefs and will vote.”
